Why We Must Embrace This Ariel

Earlier this week, Facebook let me in on the best news: Halle Bailey was cast as The Little Mermaid. I'm pretty pumped up about it for a few reasons. Let me be clear, I don't usually get overly excited about who Disney casts in their live-action films. It's just that...

June 8: Trust

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV) The words in this verse used to be the lyrics to my favorite song. I remember these words...

Almost But Not Yet

It seems like from the age of seventeen on, we are continuously in the "almost but not yet." Almost graduated from high school or college, but not yet. Almost working our dream job, just not yet. Almost dating, almost engaged, almost married, but slow down, not yet....

June 7: Power Source

Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God! (Psalm 68:35 ESV) Have you ever heard the phrase, "God won't give you anything you can't handle"? It's a popular word of encouragement in...

June 6: Open Hands

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven (1 Kings 8:22 ESV) I have this awesome friend named Audrey. Two years ago, we traveled together to East Asia to share the Gospel with a...

Good morning, Beloved ones! I want to announce that I will now be posting my daily devotions onto this website directly. So good news! For those of you who are following me via email, you will now receive devotions in your inbox each morning. If you are not following...

To My Little Sister (And All Other High School Graduates)

Congratulations! You have officially worn the hat and turned the tassel. You have closed your locker, walked down the grand staircase in the front lobby, and said goodbye to some people who have impacted your life even more than you even know right now. You have made...

The Absurdity of Young Marriage

Well, if you are at all familiar with me or this blog, you know that I haven't been able to shut up about my recent move from my hometown into a near city. Besides getting married nine months ago, this has been the greatest transition I have experienced thus far. In...

The Power of the Mouth

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” we heard over and over again as children. Yet they always seemed to be the thing that sent little girls crying to the teacher and little boys from asking to never have to go back to school. We bury...

Choose Family. Choose the Church.

Nothing quite connects a family like going through great change with one another. In the last year of my life, I have arguably gotten as close to my family as I ever have been because of all the emotions we have traveled through with one another. My sister and I are...

Messing up My Order

At the start of my last semester of college, I sent in what I thought would be my best paper yet. It was for my advanced composition class, so I wanted the professor to know that I was indeed advanced. It was beautifully laced with headings, and each paragraph argued...

The Good Gift of Transition

In light of resting in a God who transcends my transitions, let’s dive into the book of James. It is a book that encapsulates the early Church’s transition period post-Messiah and pre-second coming.

About Us

Lauren and Austin here! We are a Christian couple living in Nashville, Tennessee. Austin is a teacher and Lauren is a writer. We both love getting to know other people which is why we decided to start connecting with you through content creation.

We believe in authentically sharing our stories with one another. We believe that choosing Jesus and one another impossible without the Holy Spirit and incredible intentionality. We love spending mornings at the gym, listening to sermon podcasts, and making late night trips to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard.

Thank you for stopping by. We would love for you to stay a while, leave some comments, and even join us long term.

Marriage

We got married in August 2016! It was both the best day of our lives and the beginning of an adventure we are so glad to call ours. We are learning more about the ups and downs of marriage every day, but both agree that it is the greatest blessing of our lives. It is the most sanctifying experience either of us have ever had, and we would love to share the experience with you! Check this page out to get a glimpse of the process leading up to a wedding and everything since.

Faith

The Lord has taught us so much individually and together in our time with him. He has also been molding our hearts not only as a bride and groom to one another, but a bride to Christ as a part of the church. Isaiah 54:5 proclaims, “For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name.” We believe that everything we do is in light of and in submission to the Gospel. In these posts, we will walk through Scripture to make these connections. We have gone through Old and New Testament books, we have explored topics like marriage and community, and we suggest books and sermons that we think you might love as well.

Lifestyle

“Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all to the glory of the Lord.” Part of living as a loved bride of Christ is doing the day-to-day through the lens of the Gospel. In these posts, you will find everything from recipes to budgeting to living actively in our own community.

We would love to hear from YOU!
