Last October | Pregnancy After Loss

Pregnancy after loss is complicated. It is ladened with fear. It asks “what-if” day in and day-out. It is a whole lot harder when we try to do it alone.

There are always more things to learn, always more ways to grow, and our prayer is that we would commit to that journey over a lifetime and instill the same thing in our children.

Life on Life on Life

The saddest funeral I ever went to was that of a young father leaving behind four little ones and a wife. I remember sitting in the back, uncontrollably sobbing, not because my life would be directly affected (beyond pure sorrow) by the loss of this man, but because I...

Christians: We Must Prepare for Easter

April is perhaps the busiest time of year in my life and so many others. For me, it is filled to the brim with national speech and debate competitions. For others, graduation preparation, the end of school, tax season, and spring sports are overtaking lives. Schools...

The Best Thing You Can do for Your Marriage

“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. Christians are most powerful on their knees.” –Corrie ten Boom In the first four months of my marriage, a lot happened. Austin started a new profession out of town, I was beginning my...

The Beauty of my Interracial Marriage

"Stomp, hop, step, fa-lap, step, stomp," I whispered over and over again, though my feet did not follow the words coming from my mouth. My seven-year-old self just knew she was going to be a phenomenal tap dancer. The little girl next to me had it down, so naturally,...

Marriage isn’t for Me

The summer before I met my husband, I was sitting on a boat gliding across the lake with a few of my best friends. We were gawking about Scottish boyfriends and watermelon and every other high school-esque thing we could think of to discuss. My teenage years had been...

The Day I Left My Secret Legalism

I sat in the rumbling room not knowing whether to close my ears or to just let myself explode in the emotion of it all. The worship leader had ensured that we would only hear the music and our own thoughts with the Father, undistracted by everything around us. I felt...

Being Knit Together in Love…

I am a camp girl through and through. Starting as an eight-year-old, I marked my calendar for that one anticipated week each year. I began packing weeks in advance, planned out all my outfits for worship, and looked forward to nothing more than getting out of my...

The Brilliance of Jesus

Simple truths guide our lives. It's simply true that I have class at 9 am most days. It's simply true that if I drink coffee too late, I won't go to sleep. It's simply true that I have got to go to the grocery today or I am going to starve my husband. Last week, we...

20 Ways to Intentionally Love your Husband

Beloved. I love this word so. I pointed out my affection for it in Monday's post, and I will bring attention to it once again today. It is a word that points out the most intentional and intimate kinds of love. It says, "I cherish you, my love. I want what's best for...

The Simple Gospel

The Gospel is the means by which I breathe. The means by which I am married. The means by which I write. Sound dramatic? Maybe. False? Absolutely not. Let me clarify. My entire being longs for my own satisfaction. Every time I see something or someone I know will...

Wholly Inadequate

Adequate: satisfactory or acceptable in quality or quantity. Adequacy: the state or quality of being adequate. I spent my teenage years, as most do, trying to fulfill these two definitions though others' opinions of me. I spent my dating relationship with Austin...

About Us

Lauren and Austin here! We are a Christian couple living in Nashville, Tennessee with our one year old daughter Eden. Austin is a teacher and Lauren is a writer. We both love getting to know other people which is why we decided to start connecting with you through content creation.

We believe in authentically sharing our stories with one another. We believe that choosing Jesus and one another impossible without the Holy Spirit and incredible intentionality. We love spending mornings at the gym, listening to sermon podcasts, and making late night trips to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard.

Thank you for stopping by. We would love for you to stay a while, leave some comments, and even join us long term.

We got married in August 2016! It was both the best day of our lives and the beginning of an adventure we are so glad to call ours. We are learning more about the ups and downs of marriage every day, but both agree that it is the greatest blessing of our lives. It is the most sanctifying experience either of us have ever had, and we would love to share the experience with you! Check this page out to get a glimpse of the process leading up to a wedding and everything since.

The Lord has taught us so much individually and together in our time with him. He has also been molding our hearts not only as a bride and groom to one another, but a bride to Christ as a part of the church. Isaiah 54:5 proclaims, “For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name.” We believe that everything we do is in light of and in submission to the Gospel. In these posts, we will walk through Scripture to make these connections. We have gone through Old and New Testament books, we have explored topics like marriage and community, and we suggest books and sermons that we think you might love as well.

“Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all to the glory of the Lord.” Part of living as a loved bride of Christ is doing the day-to-day through the lens of the Gospel. In these posts, you will find everything from recipes to budgeting to living actively in our own community.

We would love to hear from YOU!
