Last October | Pregnancy After Loss

Pregnancy after loss is complicated. It is ladened with fear. It asks “what-if” day in and day-out. It is a whole lot harder when we try to do it alone.

Your Righteousness Is Not Your Relationship Status: A Letter to Singles in the Church

Holiness will not earn you a spouse. Righteousness will not make you a wife. Marriage is not your prize. Jesus is.

Quiet Time Through Quarantine

Even in one of the busiest seasons of my life, this is my very favorite routine with the Lord, and I pray I get to continue doing this for the rest of my days.

Deny Your Accuser.

I sat against the black fabric of the chairs at church, pen dead still as my pastor asked us about our obedience. I closed my eyes, knowing my secret answer. Are you being obedient? It is not a question with pretty wording. It does not sound like it will make any kind...

Sustaining Friendship in Marriage

Divorce plagues half of marriages. Perhaps because of money. Perhaps because of infidelity. But maybe it’s simpler. Maybe we have forgotten friendship.

Today Was the Due Date: My Miscarriage Story

Today was the due date for our first baby. This baby was only five weeks along when we found out and just under six weeks when God pulled him or her home. It was early. So early that I have a hard time even claiming it as a loss. Even still, tears well up in my eyes...

An Anthem Worth Falling For

Earlier this week, Austin and I were listening to worship music when the following lyrics caught my attention: "This will be my anthem song: Jesus we love you, oh how we love you. You are the one our hearts adore." You can probably guess that it was the word "anthem"...

When Marriage Was Not the Vacation I Imagined

I heard a line the other day in a spoken word poem that really resonated with me: …because dating feels like vacation and marriage is a job. You could not have convinced me that this was true while Austin and I were dating–or even engaged!! I just know that marriage...

My Favorite Faith-Based Podcasts

We have so much content at our fingertips, so let’s make what we choose to take in worth while.

Jesus, Calm My Storm

Everywhere we look these days we are getting news of storms. Whether it is a physical storm like Hurricane Harvey or Irma or the sudden passing of a family member or just feeling like we cannot catch up with our schedules, As the season of fall approaches, I can't...

My Favorite Things about My New Marriage

Oh my goodness! The last month of my life has been insane. I started my new job, began an online business, and have been diving head first into seminary each week. That being said, this blog has unfortunately taken the back burner.  That being said, I am so grateful...

Dear White Christian

Dear white Christian, I am you. I am overwhelmingly and uncomfortably aware right now that racism is still alive and well in our country. Yet I have not always been this way. If you haven’t perused this blog, you may not know that I have been married to a black man...

We’ve Been Married for a Year and This is What We’ve Learned

Married for a year. This is fiercely weird to say. It seems as if it were five minutes ago that I was driving frantically around Bowling Green, Kentucky the night before my wedding trying to find our marriage license (yes, that happened). It seems as if it were just...

August 5: Entrusted

This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith, (1 Timothy...

About Us

Lauren and Austin here! We are a Christian couple living in Nashville, Tennessee. Austin is a teacher and Lauren is a writer. We both love getting to know other people which is why we decided to start connecting with you through content creation.

We believe in authentically sharing our stories with one another. We believe that choosing Jesus and one another impossible without the Holy Spirit and incredible intentionality. We love spending mornings at the gym, listening to sermon podcasts, and making late night trips to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard.

Thank you for stopping by. We would love for you to stay a while, leave some comments, and even join us long term.

We got married in August 2016! It was both the best day of our lives and the beginning of an adventure we are so glad to call ours. We are learning more about the ups and downs of marriage every day, but both agree that it is the greatest blessing of our lives. It is the most sanctifying experience either of us have ever had, and we would love to share the experience with you! Check this page out to get a glimpse of the process leading up to a wedding and everything since.

The Lord has taught us so much individually and together in our time with him. He has also been molding our hearts not only as a bride and groom to one another, but a bride to Christ as a part of the church. Isaiah 54:5 proclaims, “For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name.” We believe that everything we do is in light of and in submission to the Gospel. In these posts, we will walk through Scripture to make these connections. We have gone through Old and New Testament books, we have explored topics like marriage and community, and we suggest books and sermons that we think you might love as well.

“Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all to the glory of the Lord.” Part of living as a loved bride of Christ is doing the day-to-day through the lens of the Gospel. In these posts, you will find everything from recipes to budgeting to living actively in our own community.

We would love to hear from YOU!
