I have said it before and I will say it again: your wedding day will be the fastest day of your life. You plan every detail with such precision, you spend hours making decisions that seem so small, and you spend money you probably shouldn’t. Then it comes and before you can blink it’s gone.
How encouraging, right? All that said, whether or not I remember every detail perfectly, my wedding day was the best day of my life.
I could go on for days about how to cherish your day. But the biggest piece of advise I can possibly give is to hire a professional to capture your day in real time. There is not a thing in the world like looking back at details of your day that you would have otherwise missed. Here are five reasons every bride should allocate part of their budget toward a videographer. You will not regret this decision.
1. You will see details you missed.
Confession: I forgot to look at Austin when I walked out. I saw my friend Ashton and my aunt and my uncle then realized I should probably look at my groom. Praise the Lord and thank you Black Mountain Photography for capturing the look on his face. I would have not experienced that moment otherwise.
2. Your mannerisms will be captured in such real time.
Whether or not I love the close up of me laughing in the beginning, my mother will treasure it forever. I will also treasure the look on my face when I hug my sister, my tendency to stumble over my vows because I was nervous, the way I patted Austin because he did what the photographer told him to, my dancing friends’ excitement, and my ring bearer’s joy when he caught the garter.
3. You will hold onto fleeting moments forever.
Everything was just so surreal. I am so thankful I will always be able to look at my dad’s face the moment he saw me. I will forever cherish my mom helping me put on my dress and the first dance with my man. These moments happened so quickly, but I can now relive them any time I want.
4. You will hear what the vows sounded like to those listening.
…AND you can replay them as ammunition.
For real, it is such a cool reminder to listen to the promises I made to Austin. I am not a perfect wife by any means and I have to fight to keep every vow I made. But hearing them just as they were said on my wedding sure does encourage me to keep striving to meet them each day.
5. You won’t have to worry about capturing your day because someone else is doing it for you.
You are going to be thinking about enough! You may forget to remind someone to take a video of the cake cutting or the first dances or whatever else you want to treasure–or they may forget! Hiring someone is an easy way to ensure you have every moment you want forever.
